sunshine and warmer weather; the chance to see David Crowder Band in concert (they were so awesome!); unexpected phone call from my brother; a promising job interview; prayer from my ORR family; chocolate chip cookies (homemade!); another five miles at the gym; free Mars Hill podcasts; planning for my road trip/spiritual retreat next week; the feeling i have inside me that God is up to something BIG in me; and knowing that, though my circumstances may try and dictate whether i am free or not, Christ has already done the hard work--He died for my freedom! So like Paul, i can say "Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body..." (Philippians 1.18-20).
this season in my life is all about eucharisteo. and what does that mean? well, "eucharisteo, thanksgiving, envelopes the Greek word for grace, charis. but it also holds its derivative, the Greek word chara, meaning joy." (Ann Voskamp)
in other words--in my thankfulness, i am finding joy.
